Additional Hospital Requirements

In addition to the minimum teaching bed strength, the teaching hospital should also have:

  • Minimum daily OPD attendance:1,600 patients

  • Average indoor bed occupancy:At least 80% per annum

  • Major Operation Theatres:10

  • Minor Operation Theatre: One well-equipped minor OT with anaesthesia facility for each surgical specialty.

  • 24×7 Emergency/Casualty Services with triaging facilities.

  • Functional ICUs, including NICU, PICU, ICCU, Respiratory ICU, Burns ICU, Surgical ICU and Obstetric HDU/ICU, as prescribed under UG-MSR 2023.
